The effort of getting Yamaha’s troubled 2024 MotoGP bike to turn is having a dramatic effect on its riders
Three years ago, Fabio Quartararo missed a potential Spanish Grand Prix victory due to arm pump, leading to surgery, but didn’t stop him from winning the 2021 MotoGP title. Arm pump, known as Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome, struck again at Jerez affecting Quartararo and team-mate Alex Rins, both blaming the Yamaha bike. Yamaha struggled at the track, with Quartararo finishing 15th and Rins 13th due to arm pump issues affecting their performance. Both riders highlighted the difficulties in riding the current Yamaha M1, lacking rider comfort and causing problems with turning and corner exit.
